7/13/16 July Islamorada Tarpon Fishing Report

Good fishing again today for Randy and Pat here from Texas.  We found some tarpon in the channels where we had caught one yesterday.  First stop didn’t produce much but a few sharks, the second though the tarpon were biting.  We got one to the boat for pictures, another we got a technical release on as he jumped off next to the boat, and had a couple others spit the hook on the bite.  We broke it up a little mid day and caught some trout and a few more mullet for bait.  Hope the fishing holds up!  At it again tomorrow, I do have some days open near the end of the month if anyone is looking to go.  July is a great time of year to fish!  2 for 4

7/12/16 July Tarpon Fishing in the Everglades

Got after the tarpon again today.  We found them in the backcountry channels.  Not tons of fish, never even saw one roll.  But we caught one right off the bat plus plenty of sharks and a big sawfish.  Then after that we moved channels and saw someone fighting a tarpon.  We were heading to that general area so I set up and within another 5 minutes we had another good size tarpon on.  Anyways was glad to get a couple!  We finished the day catching a few trout whilst getting pilchards for snook.  Then we caught a handful of snook to finish the day.  2 for 2

7/11/16 Florida Keys Tarpon Fishing in July

Back at it again today the fish were more cooperative.  We found some tarpon in the morning where we had seen them yesterday.  While yesterday they didn’t really bite, today they did.  We caught two and were plenty happy with that!  Also a few sharks and finished the day up with a handful of snook.  Great day hopefully it will get a little better.  Just not a ton of fish around but I think when the wind lays down again they will show back up in force.  2 for 2

7/10/16 July Everglade Tarpon fishing in Islamorada

Fishing got tough for us again today with the south southeasterly wind kicking up.  We found some big balls of mullet again on the way out so catching bait was easy.  But boy did the tarpon pull a vanishing act.  We tried one of the backcountry channels first thing since we were waiting on a tide change in the area where they had been the last few days.  No life just a few sharks.  We then hit the beaches and I never saw a fish for miles.  We fished a few areas where they were the last few days but only a few shark bites.  We ran a long way and eventually cut around one of the beach corners and saw a few tarpon free jumping.  Got lined up and saw a couple roll nearby and thought we were in them.  Though only a few more shark bites and then never saw the tarpon again.  Tried running around the beaches some more and never saw a thing, we fished another area and more sharks.  After that we bent the light rods with some trout and snapper which was good.  Finished up trying for tarpon again, ran around a couple different channels trying to locate some but did not see much. Finally saw a free jumper in a channel and fished it hard and moved 3 different times, but no bites unfortunately.  Anyways thats about the story of the year, have a few great days and then boom they keep you honest!  Back at it tomorrow.  0 for 0

7/9/16 July Tarpon Fishing Florida Keys

Got out with Dave and his son Joe today we had some mullet from yesterday though we caught some more on the way as we ran into some huge schools out in the gulf.  We also caught some live pilchards for bait too for later.  Anyways tarpon fishing was good we caught a double header right off the bat.  Then the sharks started getting us.  We moved around a bit and eventually found some tarpon rolling elsewhere and got another one.  Then we decided to give the snooks a try and we caught lots of them plus a juvenile goliath grouper.  Great day I have them again tomorrow!  Still have plenty of openings towards the end of July it’s a great time of year to fish.  3 for 3
